Shawn's Treasure Hunt 2.0

Peak narcissism eh?

Welcome to the hunt!

Here are a few tips before you begin.

  • Approach problems with an open mind. Everything is solvable.

  • Keep your observations skills sharp. They will most definitelybe used.

  • Put yourself into the shoes of someone trying hard to hide something for it to just barely be discoverable.

  • Be careful not to discard things as they may come in handy later on in the hunt.

  • Do not underestimate the complexity of anything.

  • Do not be afraid to try far fetched ideas. They entertain me.

  • Safety first. No need to rush since there is no time limit (mostly).

The rules.

1. Each hint is 1 penalty task.

2. Only 1 penalty is available per clue.

3. Each location, if you cannot figure out is 3 penalties.

4. If one penalty is already done for a hint only two more need to done for the answer.

5. Any person of the team can be selected to do a task.

6. Each task’s minimum requirements are mentioned on the task itself. Failure to do is will result in 2 penalties to be performed, following which the next clue will be given.

7. All penalties to be performed before receiving location or hint or after task is failed.

8. Penalty will be chosen at random.

9. You may not tell anyone you are on a treasure hunt / it was a dare etc. while on the treasure   hunt unless we are in deep shit.

10. No restriction on use of technology. Although using AI decoders and stuff will kind of defeat the purpose of today.

11. Organiser will handle the stopwatch in tasks that need to be completed in a stipulated duration.

12 .If caught by the police doing something wrong, blame the least liked person of the group.   Not the organiser.

13. Organiser’s decision is final.

14. If need be you may request organiser to act as driver.

15. All communications will be handled through the chat box - including asking for hints or randomly selecting penalties.

16. Don't expect anything great from the treasure. I already put a ton of effort to make this treasure hunt.

The Penalties:

To be selected using a random number generator (non repeated).

  1. Two members must walk up to a random person and serenade them with a song in duet.

  2. 2 members must do 3 summersaults and 3 kart wheels each.

  3. 2 members must perform 40 seconds of any dance routine.

  4. 2 members must put 2 mentos in a coke and immediately drink it without spilling it.

  5. Each member does an unflattering impression of someone in your team.

  6. 2 members are to eat 2 full green Chillis and act out a 30 second scene from a movie / show.

  7. All members hop on one leg for the next 5 minutes of the ongoing treasure hunt, not including time in vehicles / sitting.

  8. Each member purchases a different beverage of choice – all to be mixed together in equal parts in one glass and to be consumed by an elected member.

  9. All members to perform the next task barefoot.

  10. Beg / Borrow / Steal i) something yellow and ii) something bigger than your hand.

  11. Next clue to be solved without any verbal communication.

  12. All team members must eat one full small lemon immediately.

  13. Procure a pair of funny looking sunglasses (approved by organiser) and one team member has to wear them for the entire day.

  14. Two team members must switch their left and right footwear around and wear it that way for the next hour.

  15. Get 3 things which you usually have to pay for from any store / restaurant - for free.

NOTE: Before receiving the final clue, the following items must be procured and presented to the organiser:

  • One 20 rupee coin.

  • A picture of each individual participant without them noticing a picture is being taken or posing. Members should not discuss whose picture they already have.

  • Picture of metal manhole covers with sectors designed by Pierre Jeanneret.

  • Picture of man with hair dyed an unusual colour.

  • 3 “popular character” related items.

  • 10 bottle caps.

  • 1 wheel cover (do not steal this.)

Let's Begin
Clue 1:

Welcome to your first mission.

Don’t make haste,

A veiled blankness crossed your vision.

The key was writ, yet undetected.

A fever ensued, the stain effected.

1 - The city beautiful closed to everyone’s heart for many reasons. Chandigarh is not only known for its well-planned architecture but also for cleanliness and greenery. It has many beautiful places to explore like Sukhna lake which is a popular tourist destination. Here you can enjoy boating and scenic beauty, especially during sunset.

2 - Another very popular tourist destination is the Rock Garden. It is famous for a sculpture garden and its beauty. Its designer Nek Chand made different structures with stones, rocks, and scraps in his spare time.  Later on, it became a popular heritage site. It is a must-visit with kids.

3 - Other than these, there is a beautiful rose garden, timber trail, Pinjore garden, and Chatbir zoo which is a common weekend getaway for people from nearby places.

4 - Chandigarh is locally known as ‘the city beautiful’ is indeed a mesmerizing city situated in the foothills of the Shivalik hills. It’s the capital city of both Punjab and Haryana and thus sees an amalgamation of cultures of both the sister states. Chandigarh has its charm whilst being the first planned city of the country. It also catches your attention of being among the cleanest cities of India. Chandigarh very subtly links modernity with a dash of history. Many of these features are yet alien to several Indian cities.

5 - If you like long walks and everything organized or you have a thing with blue skies with mountains in a backdrop sitting on some serene lakeside if you want to see a different India- yes, this one is for you!

6 - Just like any other north Indian city located in the plains Chandigarh, enjoys moderate weather. Summers which start from May, do get pretty harsh by the end of the month and during June. The maximum temperature during this period settles between 37-40° C which makes stepping out for tourists quite an arduous task.

7 - With an average rainfall close to 600 mm during this period, the Monsoon brings great relief for the locals reeling under intense heat. At times this comfort is short-lived due to increasing humidity. Day temperatures range between 28–35 degrees Celsius.

8 - But after a fresh spell of rain, the sight of the city is certainly breath taking, with green trees and botanicals having been dusted off with a splash of water.

9 - With a hint of cool air in the atmosphere, this is the perfect time of the year to enjoy the awesome view of the Shivalik from Sukhna lake.

10 - The period starting September till October attracts most tourists as the weather is pleasant throughout the day, with the average maximum temperature settling around 32 degrees Celsius. You can pay a visit if you like it all yellow with maple leaves covering the roads and gardens of the city during this time of the year.

11 - This is when people stay indoors during the early morning and night, venturing outside only around noon. The average day temperature remains in the range of 8-10 degrees Celsius during December, January, and February. Rising to settle around 20° C by the end of March.

12 - Another aspect of the north Indian winter is fog, which creates a major problem in commuting, as visibility drops to a large extent and driving in these conditions becomes extremely dangerous.
